Mission Statement: To educate and support individuals in the areas of emotional and spiritual health as it relates to family relations and unplanned pregnancies through the love of Christ.
Vision: A society that celebrates life and supports women and families.
What we do: We provide free, confidential non-judgmental education and support. We are peer counselors who assist and educate single moms in their journey through parenting. We also share the stresses and fears of an unplanned pregnancy or post abortion distress - the HLWSC is the only pregnancy care centre in Northwestern Alberta. As such, we offer free pregnancy tests, counseling, and unconditional love, acceptance and support for the mother no matter what she decides. Although we do not refer for abortion, we provide education about abortion, as well as other alternatives such as parenting and adoption, and offer post-abortion counseling and support.
Since we are peer counselors, and not professionals, we will refer people for additional help if needed (medical care, mental health, community health, etc). We are starting several programs, including a parenting program, abstinence program, and a nutrition/cooking class.
The HLWSC is affiliated with Heartbeat International and CAPSS (Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services).
